First Hand Questions in Ubuntu (some)

  1. Setting Up Keyboard Layout-- To set up keyboard layout in Ubuntu, go to System > Preferences > Keyboard then in Layout's tab, pick the layout and then click Layout Options.
  2. Ubuntu is hanging-- Press Control(ctrl)+alternative(alt)+backspace to restart Ubuntu graphical interface.
  3. Video Chatting in Ubuntu-- To video chat in Ubuntu, you can you can use Gizmo or Skype for video-chatting.
  4. Using the sudo command: $ sudo apt-get install a[Tab][Tab]
    Display all 899 possibilities? (y or n)n
    $ sudo apt-get install aa[Tab][Tab]
    aa3d aalib1 aalib-bin aap-doc
    aacplusenc aalib1-dev aap aatv
  5. Search for applications in Terminal-- $ apt-cache search jre
    docbook-xsl - stylesheets for processing DocBook XML files to various output formats
    docbook-jrefentry - DocBook XML JRefEntry DTD
    docbook-xsl-stylesheets-ko - Stylesheets for processing DocBook XML files to HTML and FO in korean.
    icedtea-java7-jre - Java runtime based on OpenJDK
    kaffe - A JVM to run Java bytecode
    sun-java5-bin - Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 (architecture dependent files)
    sun-java5-fonts - Lucida TrueType fonts (from the Sun JRE)
    sun-java5-jre - Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 (architecture independent files)
    sun-java5-plugin - The Java(TM) Plug-in, Java SE 5.0
    sun-java6-bin - Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (architecture dependent files)
    sun-java6-fonts - Lucida TrueType fonts (from the Sun JRE)

  6. Installing Java-- $ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre
